Most of you know my fledging few-date adventure has ended, and not of my initiative. I didn't really consider this serious enough to use the term "dumped", but didn't have another term, either.
After some kicking around with Mike of goatdogblog, he proposed the term "released." I like it and propose its immediate adoption for the ending of relationships greater than one or two dates and less than calling yourselves "boyfriend/girlfriend" or equivalent.

Well, for the record, I initially proposed "kicked to the curb." But someone didn't like that.
But like I told you, that implies cohabitation to me. So that's for relationships even more far along than "dumped", IMNSHO. Cause you know, I'm the relationship and the linguistic expert, you know. /sarcasm
I have to agree with the first caller(?), I liked "kicked to the curb". I don't think it implies cohabitation persay.
I can "kick you to the curb" if we're playing steet hockey or street football. This can imply a slight push or tackle, but not anything that the parties cannot walk away from.
In a more severe case, I've heard gangsta rappers threaten to kick their enemies to the curb. In this scenario the victim is thrown down in the street, wedged between the curb and the steet and kicked...a lot.
Anyway I'm glad you have a sense of humor about this.

I don't know. I associate it with being left out with the trash. So to me that's a term that seems kinda low class.
