"Then you'll die a horrible, disgusting death, before the whole world, on CBS tv."
Ok, some of the things they are doing aren't entirely safe, but you've got to figure the producers aren't going to put people in any real danger. The worst injury of TAR 5 was on the pier, for goodness sake.
Maybe the roadblock is "contract cholera."

I would be happiest if the roadblock read "Contract cholera (Jonathan only)."

I'll post more tommorrow, but I just wanted to say that I totally called Adam offering to jump off the boat. Only I was kinda just goofing on him.

I really liked this episode. As I was wathing, I was thinking "what other show would even think about going to a Senegalese fishing village and a salt mine?" Parts of Dakar weren't so hot, but I thought some of the places were really beautiful. The Ile de Goree looked awesome.
I also realized during this episode that I really liked some of these teams. I've always liked Kris and Jon (and picked them to win after the first episode--just ask Sam and Christy). And Gus is just such a nutjob. I laughed out loud when he was in the taxi after the salt roadblock. He had no shirt, but was still wearing the hat. And Hera doesn't seem embarassed by it at all. I like Don and MJ, but they should have been eliminated twice now. And God help me, I like Lori and Bolo. Last week, Bolo added 2 to 68 and got 80. This week, he seriously said "me are." They're not rocket scientists, but there's something endearing about them. I think it's that they know who they are and aren't really ashamed of it.
And then there are some teams I don't like. Jonathan and Victoria ("We've already got the names picked out"--may God have mercy on your soul) are a train wreck. I can't help but feel that the editing is setting them up for a grand (and hilarious) fall. Freddy and Kendra are uninspiring at best. Adam and Rebecca get worse each week. That's funny that you predicted the boat jumping, because I was thinking the same thing. And I think Hayden and Aaron are going to decline here pretty fast. She's really bitchy. And it looks like she's a bitch to Bolo next week. He's just sort of there, but she's a pain in the ass.
And I was disappointed that this was a non-elim. But I was intrigued by his wording. He said "This is the first of SEVERAL non-eliminations." In the past, he's always said "This is the first of four (or three)". I wonder if something is up. The two things that leap to mind are a) not wanting to let the teams know how many teams will be in the final leg or b) more than four non-elims, but some legs with more than one elimination. I'd prefer a) to b), provided there were more team racing to the finish. But I think something may be up. They're just been so consistent with their language in the past, that it's easy to see when something has changed.

Kris and Jon have totally settled into the slot for my favorite team now. What sealed it was their reaction to starting the leg with a collosal whiff on the hours of operation--they didn't panic or scream at each other, they just got their butts in gear and raced.
Also, I loved Jon during the roadblock. ("She's doing a good job, and she looks hot doing it.") Do they know all the task details before choosing the team member who will perform the task? Cause this seems like one you should not have sent the women who were not pro wrestlers to perform.
The only two teams I want to see go at this point are John and Victoria (God help us, they must never be allowed to spawn) and Adam and Rebecca, because Adam's a complete wussy. Although I agree Don & MJ haven't exactly proven their worthiness to continue racing.
Also, it's like they listened to the recapper this week--there was a lot more open-ended clue solving. I understand this is impossible unless they have an Amazing Wormhole, but still.
I also caught the line about "several' non-elimination legs. My guess is that there will be more than 3 teams in the last leg as well, although I potentially could see them eliminating two teams in one leg. I was surprised that they had the non-elim leg in Senegal, because the lack of money could put a real hurt on Don and MJ, unless they end up with a leg that doesn't require much cash as I doubt they'll be able to scratch much up in Dakar. I think that people have been making the decision on who does the roadblock prior to knowing what it is, the work rosewater I think led to the number of women doing the task. Although Lori and surprising Kris did quite well with the task. I'm so rooting for Kris and Jon now, the rest of the teams either seem to annoy me (John and Victoria, Adam and Rebecca, Hayden and Aaron) or be somewhat incompentent (Don and MJ, Gus and Hera, Lori and Bolo, Freddy and Kendra although she annoys me a little).

I'd have to figure the next leg will involve a charter bun^H^H^H flight to some other African locale. They'll need to scrounge for ferry tickets and taxi, but the rest will be cheap. They didn't seem to want to make it impossible on the mugged teams last time. In fact, I don't think a mugged team was eliminated--nor in the back-to-back NE's did KamiKarli finish last.
